Pauline Douady is a French visual artist whose practice\u2014spanning drawing, printmaking, and painting\u2014explores the phenomenon of life: the pulses, resonances, and circulations that connect beings, places, and experiences. A synesthete, she translates sounds, words, and atmospheres into colors, rhythms, and gestures, giving rise to organic forms that move between abstraction and figuration.<\/p>\n

Her approach is deeply sensory and intuitive, nourished by attentive listening and a sensitivity to nuance. She works through layering, erasure, and continuous movement, following a rhizomatic logic: open, horizontal, and always connected to encounters, traversed spaces, and the narratives that resonate with her.<\/p>\n

Self-taught, she shaped her visual language during a formative stay in Buenos Aires, working alongside painter Jorge Demirjian, where she developed a refined sensitivity to form and the internal dynamics of composition. At the Beaux-Arts of Angers, she discovered lithography and developed a singular approach to printmaking: limited, often unique prints in which the material becomes an experimental space rather than a tool of reproduction.<\/p>\n

Based in Toulon from 2017, she explored intaglio, woodcut, and mural painting, and co-founded the first Printmaking Festival of Toulon in 2019 with Sacha Stoliarova.<\/p>\n

Now living in Toronto, she continues her research into gesture, inner perception, and connection, creating works that invite a moment of breathing\u2014a renewed attention to sensory experience and the forces that move through us.<\/p>\n
